LIFE GROUPS  -- Q/A

Why should I attend a LIFE Group?

Small groups at EdgeWater Church exist to help you grow up to full maturity in your relationship with God and others. You may be doing great in your spiritual journey right now, but by being in relationship with fellow believers, you will experience even more of the abundant life Jesus has to offer. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up. If you are ready to connect with other people, belong to something life-changing, and grow in Christ through relationships with other believers, then maybe it's time to get involved in a LIFE group!

What is a LIFE Group?

A LIFE group is typically made up of six to twelve people who meet regularly during the week to share about their lives, support one another, and study biblical truths. Each group has a host and a leader (or one person may host and lead). Groups meet in a number of different locations around the Southside/Rainbow-City/Gadsden area, including coffee shops, restaurants, and work places, but typically they meet in homes. Most groups meet weekly during evening hours, but location and meeting time are designed for the convenience of the group. Our goal is to accommodate the different needs of those in our church by offering a variety of options.  We are anticipating launching several new LIFE groups as the new year begins: General (open to all), Women's, Men's, Moms', College, Youth, Married Couples, Single Parents, and Grief Recovery.

What do LIFE Groups do?

This can vary from group to group, but most groups begin by spending time deepening friendships.  Then the group prays specifically for each other.  The host/leader will then facilitate the groups’ Bible or book study, discussion, and life application. Not all groups study the same thing. Some discuss Pastor Richie’s weekend message more personally, some read and study books about Christian living, and others study books of the Bible.

We also encourage our LIFE groups to serve the community together. EdgeWater LIFE groups have taken furniture to needy families, written letters and baked cookies for the elderly in Nursing homes, helped remodel local homes for families, and much more. It's amazing what God can do through a group of people as they use their skills, gifts, and resources to help those in need.
